A Cooperation Agreement was yesterday signed between Saeed Alkhateeb, the Director of Korea Palestine Center, and Christian Sommer, the General Manager of the MAFINEXT Technology Start up Center, as a first phase of cooperation processes between the Cities of Hebron and Manheim aimed at enhancing ties and partnership among both cities' institutions and facilities.
The Cooperation Agreement which was signed in Korea Palestine Center (KPC) was also attended by the Mayor of Hebron Dr. Daoud Zatari and his German counterpart the Mayor of Manheim Dr. Peter Kurz, members of the visited delegation well as members of Hebron's Municipal Council and many of Hebron Municipal staff.
The joint agreement focuses on exchanging experiences between the two cities, executing developmental projects in fields of Technology, Culture, Sport and Education, in addition to make the opportunity available for Palestinians to profit from the vast experience of German humans' capabilities in the technical and vocational fields.
A presentation about Hebron Municipal Strategic Plan preceded signing the cooperation agreement, where Allam Ashhab, the General Manager of International Cooperation, spoke about the Municipality's vision that aims at upgrading the City's sectors in order to provide high quality services to the Citizens, he also touched on the deep and successful cooperation with Manheim City in various scopes.
Thereafter, Eng. Marwan Akhdar, the Director of Waste Water Department, presented the procedures followed by the Municipality to enhance the sector of Sanitation and water, pointing to the joint project "Water and Sanitation Building" with Italians, with a complementation expected in the course of the coming days. Moreover, Eng. Bahera Rasras, the Director of GIS Department, gave a detailed explanation about the department and how did the GIS system affect on improving the services provided to the locals.
The joint project of Solid Waste Management between Hebron and Bethlehem, and the construction of Al-Minia Landfill on which following techniques and international standards were also among issues discussed in the meeting, where Eng. Yasser Dweik as well spoke about the obstructions and preventions by Israeli Occupation toward operating the landfill.
By the end of the meeting Al-khateeb made a presentation on Hebron Municipal Facilities particularly the activities provided by Youth and Cultural Activities Department. Then, symbolic gifts were exchanged between the two delegations.
