    Islamic Community Delegation Visits Hebron Municipality


     Conveying the reality of what is going on the ground as well as getting a first-hand view of Hebron's conditions were among purposes the Islamic Community Delegation of America aimed to follow up in the meeting with Hebron Mayor Dr. Daoud Zatari. The delegation which was chaired by Abdullah Antepli, Muslim Chaplain of Duke University, was comprised of many Islamic Centers Heads, Academics and Activists.

    After welcoming the delegation, Dr. Zatari stressed the prominent role of the Islamic Community in supporting the Palestinian case, in defending their rights and in conveying the suffering of the Palestinian due to Israeli practices against the innocent civilians.
     
    He touched on the Old City suffering such the children detained and ill-treated by Israeli Force, the closing down of Al-Shuhada' St. which links northern and southern parts of Hebron, well as  the settlement policies aimed at preventing the creation of a Palestinian State. “Israel continues to seize Palestinian homes in Hebron particularly the Old City homes which are being quite expropriated" he added.  
     
    Dr. Zatari further said" we are keen to put the Old City on the top priority of Hebron Municipal strategic development plan".
    In cooperation framework, Dr. Zatari called the Islamic community to promote cooperation with Hebron Municipality in the context of urging Islamic businessmenleaders toinvest in Hebron as a kind of support to the local economy.
     
    On his part, Antepli expressed his happiness for his visit to Hebron, and lauded the efforts made by the elected municipal council with a view to enhance the city's condition. He also added "the Palestinian cause is our main concern and we will do our best to reveal the truth of Palestinian suffering to the US Public Opinion".
