In the meeting with the delegations of USAID and World Bank, Dr. Daoud Zatari discussed the opportunity of ensuring support for primary and vital projects for Hebron City. The meeting which was held at Korea Palestine Center was attended by Municipal Council Members, General Manager, Mayor's Assistants and a Staff of Municipal Engineers.
At the first session of the meeting with the delegation of USAID that was chaired by Peter Riley, Water Resources and Infrastructure Office Director, the Mayor of Hebron underlined the need to support both Sanitation and Water Sectors well as enhancing the infrastructure of these sectors in the city of Hebron to serve dwellers' needs. .
Dr. Zatari then thanked The United States Agency For International Development for their continuous aid and support for Palestinians and Hebron Municipality in particular, touching on the project of asphalting more than 20 main streets at the city which was financed by USAID, adding that Hebron Municipality has and will continue to get the project done as soon as possible. The Mayor of Hebron affirmed on the necessity of ensuring support for the sector of city's infrastructure that play a main role in enhancing people living condition well as to promoting local economic development which accordingly will assure jobs for those recent graduated and minimize the unemployment of the city.
In the meeting with Steen Jorgensen , the Sector Director For Human Development of Middle East and North Africa Regional and The Representative of World Bank in Palestine at the second session, Dr.Zatari discussed the opportunity of building cooperation in future projects to evolve different sectors in the city. He also spoke about Palestinian daily suffering due to Israeli Occupation's Violation, raising the issue of continuous closures which would restrict the movements of the inhabitants. " Israeli Occupation exacerbates economic conditions and prevents Hebron Municipality from implementing development projects and promoting investment." He added.
Thereafter, Dr.Zatrai stressed on the Municipal Strategic Plan for the coming years that aimed at improving the local infrastructure including the development of industrial zones and other sectors throughout joint cooperation and partnership with various donor.
Mr. Jorgensen expressed his happiness for Municipal development Orientations and then affirmed his readiness to enhance cooperation with Hebron Municipality as comply with municipal aspiration.
