Hebron Mayor Dr. Daoud Zatrai  underlined that serving inhabitants' needs is the primary objective that Hebron Municipality intends to achieve. Enhancing and evolving the city's sectors well as promoting the ties between The Municipality and the citizens were also among the purposes of Hebron Municipality. " Each citizen has the right to get facilities to live recent living condition, and Hebron Municipality  aims to build an administrative structure to apply the municipal strategic plan which based on achieving justice and equality in getting services for all" He added.

 

The meeting which discussed the concepts of Human Rights was attended by a staff of Independent Commission for Human Rights chaired by Dr. Ahmad Harb the Commissioner-General of ICHR. The  Deputy Mayor as well as The Municipal Council Members also attended the meeting to talk over the opportunity of promoting joint cooperation between both members in order to strengthen the concepts of Human Rights.

 

Dr. Zatari outlined the current projects that Hebron Municipality is working on, illustrating the Equitable distribution of services among citizens, considering that Hebron City is a geographic unit although the division of the city into H1 and H2 due to Israeli occupation measures and violations. He also added that Israeli Occupation exacerbates economic conditions and prevents Hebron Municipality from implementing development projects and promoting investment which in deed  required more efforts to provide such services and enhance the live condition for H2 dwellers.

 

Dr. Harb elucidated the effective role played by Local Councils and Municipalities in touching the needs of the citizens, noting on  how  importance is to fulfill  joint relationship between Local Authorities and the Independent Commission which directly promoting the concepts of Human Rights. He then praised on the efforts by Hebron Municipality to corroborating the concepts of Human Rights, touching on the weekly open meetings by Hebron Mayor in which held to listen to people's problems and issues which ensuring the freedom of opinion that accordingly  enhance  the ties between Hebron Inhabitants and Hebron Mayor.

By the end of the meeting, both delegations agreed on working on projects that assuring inhabitants' rights as it prescribed by Legislation.
