Mr. Mohammad Imran Qawasmi, Member in Hebron's Municipal Council, met Delphine Mentre, the Deputy Mayor of Belfort Municipality, and discussed the opportunity of promoting joint cooperation in the Service Sector, and of being in solidarity with the Palestinians who daily face the Israel's illegal practices.
Mr. Qawasmi welcomed the delegation and thanked the France's Government and People forthe positive stances towards the Palestinian cause. He also praised the role of Belfort Municipality in supporting the Old City’s nomination for inion on UNESCO's World Heritage List.
Mr. Qawasmi spoke about the suffering of Hebron's citizens as a result of the Israeli Occupation's inhumane measures and practices. He also spoke about the H2 that's completely under the control of the Israeli Authoirty, and about the closing down of Al Shuhada Street which impeded the movement of the Old City's inhabitants. A detailed presentation on Hebron, its geography and history, and on the future as well as under implementation projects by Hebron Municipality was then presented.
Mr. Qawasmi, thereafter, draw attention to the week of solidarity with the Palestinians which will be held in the course of the current month in the city of Saint Pierre and that will includes many activities which call for alleviating the suffering of the Palestinians.
Moreover, Mr. Qawasmi called the delegation to activate the twinning agreement signed between their municipalities by implementing more development projects that can achieve the public benefit on the both sides.
Ms. Mentre expressed the Belfort Municipality's willingness to cooperate with Hebron Municipality, and underlined the need to exchange as well as to share experiences and culture between the both municipalities.
After exchanging the symbolic gifts, the delegation toured the municipality departments and the social facilities.
