    Hebron Municipality and UNRWA Discuss Health Services and Education Conditions in the City


     The cooperation opportunities to improving the Education and Health Services that are provided by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine's Refugees was among issues discussed in the meeting with Amjad Abu Laban, the Chief Area Officer of the South Region.  

    Abu Laban pointed out that the City of Hebron is a home to the largest number of the Palestinian Refugees, and that the UNRWA covered the basic needs of about 50,000 refugees who just dwell in Hebron. He said that more than 1250 Hebronite families who live below the poverty line are registered on the social security list. Abu Laban also called Hebron Municipality to exert more efforts to cooperate with the UNRWA with a view to enhance the citizens' living conditions.
     
    The Mayor of Hebron, Dr. Daoud Zatari, expressed his willingness of such joint cooperation to improve the refugees' situations, and said that Hebron Municipality aims at raising the level of services provided by the sectors of Education and Health. He further added that Hebron Municipality acts jointly with the Ministry of Social Affairs as well as with the municipal council social committee in order to provide assistance to the needy and to the low-income families in the city of Hebron.
     
    By the end of the meeting, Abu Laban thanked Hebron Municipality and other sectors in the city for their positive stance in providing humanitarian relief and giving emergency aid to the people in Gaza.
