The Mayor of Hebron, Dr. Daoud Zatari, joined the International Campaign that appeals to support peace around the World. This campaign has been launched by the League of Historical Cities in the participation of Mayors of the member cities, and of approximately seven hundred thousand Japanese and foreign tourists at Kyoto Star Festival in 2015.
This campaign is seeking at preserving the cultural heritage of historical cities, particularly the cities which are seriously at risk of destruction such as the Old City of Hebron.
Since the Municipality of Hebron joined the league membership, it is keening at putting lights on the reality of the old city, and it is always trying to attract the attention of the international institutions to safeguard its intangible cultural heritagein all its forms, and to promote its local development by implementing further vital projects with a view enhance the living conditions of the citizens.
It is worth mentioning that The League of Historical Cities was established in 1987, includes more than 50 historic cities and capitals, and will stay active to achieve the purpose of its establishment, contributing to world peace.
