The Mayor of Hebron, Dr. Daoud Zatari, hosted a Turkish delegation chaired by the Deputy Secretary General Union of Municipalities of Turkey, Mr. Recep Sahin, to discuss Hebron City conditions and to strengthen ties between the both sides through the implementation of vital projects. The meeting was in the attendance of  Hebron's Councilors.

 

After welcoming, the Mayor spoke in brief about Hebron's historical heritage ,and put lights on the political and security conditions in the city and on the daily Palestinian suffering due to the Israeli illegal violation  against the innocent citizens and to the division of the city into two parts H1 and H2. He also referred to the challenges facing  the economic condition in the Center of Hebron City, as a result of the continuous closing down of the AlShuhad' Street, that led to the closure of the shops there and  thus led to the exacerbation in unemployment rate between the graduates.

 

Dr. Zatari spoke about the close  ties between the people and leadership of both Turkey and Palestine. He underlined Turkey's political support to the Palestinian Cause as well as the commercial ties between Turkish  cities and Hebron. Dr. Zatari said that Hebron Municipality is about  executing joint projects in numerous fields such as the culture, religion, economy and education fields with Turkish cities that signed twinning agreement with Hebron Municipality. 

 

Mr. Sahin  confirmed the Turkish Government supportive stance towards the Palestinian people and cause , and expressed willingness to support and to cooperate  with the Palestinian Municipalities.
