The Deputy Mayor of Hebron Prof. Jawdi Abu Sneineh met on the 7th o July, 2013 with the Bulgarian folklore band that was headed by "Emilia Spasora" the director of the municipal complex for Children in the presence of the children and coaches who came from the Bulgarian city 'Pazardzhik’ to present their folklore in Palestine.
Prof. Abu Sneineh welcomed the delegates, and introduced the history and geography of the city of Hebron, demonstrating the lives of the citizens and indicating the importance of Hebron economically. He also illustrated the situation in the old town and the suffering that the citizens go through because of the Israeli occupation authorities and the difficulties they face due to the continued closure of Al-Shuhada Street and the division of the city to H1 and H2 areas under the pretext of protecting settlers who are inside the town.
The Deputy stressed the close relations that binds the Bulgarian and Palestinian people, and appreciated the efforts that Bulgaria made to support Palestinians and their just cause and requested their support in the claims of rights approved by international norms and conventions.
He also illustrated the various relationships of Palestinians with European through cultural exchange between countries to introduce them to the Palestinian heritage, identity and folklore such as dabke. Prof. Abu Sneineh demonstrated the will of Hebron Municipality to endorse a twinning agreement with Bulgarian cities to strengthen and develop economic partnership and trade.
On the other hand, Spasora showed her appreciation and thankfulness for the warm reception, expressing her pleasure to this visit, stressing that the visit to the city of Hebron was the most beautiful among the Palestinian cities.
