    Dr.Zatari Discusses Implementing Vital Projects in Hebron with USAID


    The Mayor of Hebron, Dr. Daoud Zatari, discussed the opportunity of supporting many key projects regarded the infrastructure in the city of Hebron with a crew from the USAID chaired by Mr. David Harden, Director at USAID West Bank and Gaza Mission. The meeting was also attended by a group of the Municipality Staff.
     
    Dr. Zatari made a general discussion about the political situation in the city of Hebron, the Israeli violent measures committed against the civilians using the "alleged kidnapping" as a pretext to start their campaign, as well as the closing down of the checkpoints which had very negative effects on the economic condition. 
     
    Dr. Zatari pointed to the effect of the ongoing and aggravating crisis that's severe in Gaza Strip, and underlined the necessity of revealing the Israeli aggression to the World Public Opinion with a view to stop their military attacks against the innocent civilians that have been killed each and every hour in cold blood.
     
    In the context of the development projects, the mayor underlined the necessity of rehabilitation the city entrances particularly the Eastern Entrance of the city, Beit Einoun, which will help alleviate the massive traffic jam in the Northern Entrance. The construction of another main street (King Faisal St.) to connect the city with the Western Entrance to be away from the city center and the sub-ways of the city was also among projects has been discussed in the meeting.
     
    Moreover, Dr. Zatari discussed the opportunity of rehabilitation the Al-Fawwar well, to ensure increasing Hebron's share in water quantity, as the quantities of water allocated to the city by the PWA aren't enough to cover people needs.
     
    On his part, Mr. Harden said that the USAID will give the priority to support enhancement projects of Gaza Strip particularly in the current war on the strip to get life back to normal. He also added that the USAID will take in consideration the development projects in West Bank too.
     
    Mr. Harden then expressed his willingness to corporate a visit of Dr. Zatari to the United States to give him the opportunity to convey the Palestinians' suffering to the Public Opinion as well as to the America's People.
     
    By the end of the meeting, Dr. Zatari handed files of many vital projects of Hebron City, to be taken into account by Mr. Harden.
     
    It is worth mentioning that the meeting was preceded by a technical workshop that included Mr.Allam Ashhab, Hebron Mayor's Consultant of International Cooperation, Eng. Amjad Ebeido, the General Manager's Assistant of Engineering Affairs, Eng. Marwan Akhdar, the Head of Sanitation Department, Reem Jafari, Democracy and Governance Specialist at USAID, Peter Reliy , Water Resources and Infrastructure Office Director.
