In the meeting with Ms. Karita Laisi, Counsellor at the Representative Office of Finland to Palestinian Authority, the Mayor of Hebron, Dr. Daoud Zatari, addressed the opportunity of promoting cooperation with Finland Representative.

 

In the attendance of members from  Municipal Council, Dr. Zatari gave a talk about the economic and political conditions prevailing in Hebron's Old City , due to Israeli occupation as well as settlers' violent measures against the innocent citizens, and spoke about the continuous closure of main streets and shops  in Hebron's Old City, which negatively affected the economic condition of the city.

 

The Mayor then underlined that Hebron Municipality aimed at achieving sustainable development in the city of Hebron through implementing vital projects that could curb unemployment and create job opportunities. "Improving Hebron infrastructure particularly the water sector is on the top priority of  Hebron Municipality strategic plan" said the Mayor.

 

Ms. Laisi said that her visit was to get a view on Hebron's reality on the ground , and expressed her readiness to further cooperation and enhance ties with Hebron Municipality with a view to enhance the livelihood conditions of the citizens.

 

By the end of the meeting, the both sides agreed to strengthening cooperation and to preparing a project  proposal considering the water sector in Hebron City.
