Hebron Municipality and TIPH Sign the Second Phase of Protection Fence Project

The Mayor of Hebron, Dr. Daoud Zatari, and TIPH Head of Mission, Geir Holmenes signed on the second phase of the Fence Protection Project which will be constructed at Al Shallaleh Street. This fence aims at providing protection to  pedestrians and to shopkeepers  from  stones and wastes which have been thrown by the settlers who live in settlement outposts that adjacent to the street.

The Project first phase to construct a metal fence along the street was completed few weeks ago, and the second phase is supposed to be constructed in the course of the coming days.

"The Old City is on the top priority of Hebron Municipality", said the Mayor. He then  mentioned the opportunity of completing the infrastructure project in the Old City which has been impeded by the Israeli Authority  and once it's completed, the issue of  water drainage will indeed disappear.

Dr. Zatari appreciated the role played by the TIPH in supporting Hebron Municipality and in exerting pressure on the Israeli side with a view to facilitating the municipality missions in covering the citizens' needs who live in the H2 Areas and in the heart of the Old City.

On his side, Mr. Holmenes said" We are pleased to sign such agreement with Hebron Municipality, and we hope this project  provides protection to the citizens who live in Alshallaleh Street, as this process will enhance their daily living condition.
