    Hebron Mayor Discusses Cooperation Opportunities with USAID Experts


     Dr. Daoud Zatari, Mayor of Hebron, met a delegation of Experts from the USAID which was chaired by Professor Rhys Rayne, Senior Associate at TETRA TECH. The meeting aimed at discussing how effective the executed projects are in Palestine and particularly in Hebron, at strengthening municipalities' capacities in infrastructure projects and at assessing  how the recent developments affected the living conditions of the citizens.

    Dr. Zatari referred to the development policies that has been adopted by Hebron Municipality to enhance the technical well as the administrative capabilities, and pointed to the economic plans which seek at ensuring additional revenues that enable the municipality to provide high-levels of services aimed at gaining the community satisfaction.
     
    the mayor then said that the Israel's control of "C Areas, which are considered as the City's economic center,  prevents Hebron Municipality from executing developmental projects and building industrial zones.
     
    Efforts were made by Hebron Municipality to improve the human cadres in order to keep pace with the rapid scientific development, added the mayor. These improvements intend to soundly achieving the vital projects in the city, additionally,  to serve the citizens' needs.
     
    Professor Rayne underlined that his visit to Hebron gave him the opportunity to get a view of the projects that were executed and funded by the USAID and to get a view if local bodies benefited of achieving such projects.
     
     The USAID delegation as well as the Municipality staff then discussed the cooperation framework and the amount of funding  in course of the coming years.
