    Dr. Zatari Discusses Municipalities of the Islamic Cities Conference to be held in Hebron with the Turkish Union of Municipalities


     Dr. Daoud Zatari mayor of Hebron, welcomed, "Herman Kenjor" the secretary-general of the Union of Turkish Municipalities and "Mohammed Doman" Chairman Executive in the Board of the World Academy of local governance and democracy.
    The activating twining agreements signed between the Turkish cities and the city of Hebron in addition to the possibilities of a conference of Islamic cities was discussed.
     
    In addition, Dr. Zatari appreciated the Turkish approach towards the Palestinian cause, and the brotherly relations between the Turkish and Palestinian people and the importance of enhancing communication and cooperation through local bodies to settle and strengthen these relations.
     
    Dr. Zatari welcomed the delegation and explained about the history and geography of the city of Hebron that is divided into two parts h1 and h2. In addition, he illustrated the reality of the old town and the suffering that Palestinian citizens face due to the violation of citizens’ rights and the security measures imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities noting the difficulty that municipal work crews in the southern region face because of the occupation authorities control over the region.
    Furthermore, the Mayor illustrated that the city of Hebron is in urgent need for the development of the health and education sector we have requested the Turkish International Cooperation Agency "TIKA" earlier and they promised to support health projects in the southern region of the city.
     
    Dr. Zatari added that Turkey is considered an industrial country, which is capable of helping and supporting Hebron in the development of strategic industrial zone in the city. In addition, it could be supported in the establishment of new industrial city which includes the Information Technology sector and cutting-edge technology.
     
    He said that we are seeking to convene a conference of Turkish and Palestinian municipalities which we can hold effective partnerships and the fact that between the Turkish cities and Palestinian cities added to convert twinning agreements to partnerships more effective and we will try to implement a meeting of the cities of the Islamic Palestine in order to support trends Palestinian and support the Palestinian people
     
    Moreover, Doman stated that the Palestinian cause is considered the most significant issue in his country's foreign policy. In addition, cooperation and partnership is the goal of all Turkish authorities and institutions.
     
    Lastly, both parties agreed to discuss the development of relations, exchange of experiences and direct action in order to urge the Turkish Health Foundation Cooperation on the implementation of the project in the southern region of the city.
    They then exchanged gifts and were taken for a city tour in the old town to visit the Tomb of the Patriarchs and view the landmarks of the city.
