Dr. Daoud Zatari met on the 10th of September 2013 Hitoshi Nakamura, the second secretary at the Japanese Permanent Mission of Palestinian Authority, and a number of administrative and technical staff from the United Nations Development Programme UNDP. The meeting was held to inform them of the proposed projects of Hebron Municipality and the possibilities of providing support and assistance to these projects,
The Mayor focused on the goals of the municipal council and the direction of the economic development in Hebron that will help achieve a better life for the citizens, support the economy, and provide new job opportunities especially in the field of industry and technology. In addition, he illustrated that the work of Hebron Municipality in the current period is to seek funding for projects related to the development of all sectors in the city, within the strategic vision. The vision of the Municipality is a methodology based on parallelism in the development of sectors and building an infrastructure capable of the advancement and prosperity of Hebron.
Dr. Zatari stated that Hebron Municipality is providing the suitable environment and incentives to establish investments at the local level within the strategy of the Palestinian government and the Palestinian political leadership. This strategy is to attract investors and convince them in partnership investments in Palestine. Japan is able to support Palestinians to achieve economic development and invest in Palestine especially in the field of technology and will certainly yield profitable returns for investors and Japanese business men involved.
Furthermore, he urged the visiting delegation to take into consideration all the projects that were presented during the meeting that represents the Hebron community and contribute to the creation of cumulative state of development, which helps to achieve the goal towards establishing the institutions of a Palestinian state on solid foundations.
On the other hand, Nakamura expressed his happiness and satisfaction of the Mayor and the municipal council goals and objectives to develop the city of Hebron, stressing that support of the Japanese government to Palestinian people to improve their daily lives, which is seen by the many projects that they have funded and supported. Nakamura explained that he would work through the channels concerned in his country to help the Hebron municipality in the proposed projects to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and increase the level of coordination between the two countries..
After the meeting, the General Director of the Municipality of Hebron Eng. Maher Oweiwi took the delegation for a tour in the various sections of the municipality to show them the technical and administrative procedures Hebron Municipality use to provide service to citizens.
