Prof. Dr. Daoud Zatari mayor of Hebron discussed with " Segolene Adam 'Deputy Director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation , accompanied by Ziyad Shariaa 'senior Advisor’ to discuss the cooperation in the field and support in the development of a number of different sectors of the city.
They focused on the political realities of the city of Hebron and privacy in relation to the division of the city into two parts, one that is subject to the security control of the Israeli occupation. In which the complexity imposed on the movement of citizens and their negative impact on the economic reality of the city was discussed.
His Excellency Dr. Zatari illustrated the negative impact of the continuation of the occupation and the presence of settlers in the heart of the old town that eliminates the ability of the Hebron municipality in the development process of the southern region and the speed of completion of vital and basic projects. in addition, the importance of the use of Area C that is administratively controlled by the Israeli occupation authorities constitutes an obstacle to the establishment of projects and to implement development in various sectors of the city.
In addition, the Mayor illustrated the strategy of Hebron Municipality in the development of industrial zone and the importance of this approach to be regarded as the industrial city. He also demonstrated the situation of the Palestinian industry that is in decline due to measures imposed which restricts movement of goods, control the crossings and Palestinian direct control over exports and imports
Dr. Zatari called the delegation to put pressure on the Israeli government to allow the use of Area C for the implementation of development and support projects related to infrastructure and capacity building, and empowerment of women, youth, and cultural sectors in order to raise the level of the local community and development investment in the development of human cadre
From its part, Mrs. Adam confirmed the interest of the Swiss Agency in cooperation and partnership with the municipality of Hebron and their willingness to study projects that the municipality and the community considers a priority to be able to achieve more and improve the lives of the Palestinian citizen
At the end of the meeting and after the exchange of gifts, parties agreed on technical communication between the crew to follow up on projects and proposals to work on the study and prepare for it.
