    A Delegation of Jordan's Ministry of Interior Visits Hebron and Meets its Mayor


    The visiting delegation of the Jordanian Ministry of Interior which was chaired by Rashed Shuha, Deputy Director General of Civil Status and Passports Department, visited Hebron City and met with its Mayor, Dr. Daoud Zatari. The delegation expressed sorrow for what is happening on the ground of violations committed against the Palestinians and particularly against the citizens of Hebron's Old City. It also stressed the close ties between Jordan and Palestine's People, and emphasized on the Jordanians' total support to the Palestinians to protecting the holy sites, and to defending their lands and just cause.

    The meeting which was also attended by Palestinian Ambassador to Jordan, Bassam Hajawi, aimed at getting a first-hand view of Hebron's Political as well as economic conditions on the ground, and at supporting the steadfastness of Hebron's inhabitants.
     
    Dr. Zatari underlined the positive stances of the Jordan's Government and People to support the Palestinian Cause, and said "your precious visit to Hebron shows the deep solidarity with Palestine's People and Cause", calling for more visits with a view to deepen ties and to achieve the joint benefit.
     
    Dr. Zatari, then spoke about the political challenges that the municipality faces throughout providing services and implementing development projects in the Old City, as the Old City is located in the H2 area which is completely under the dominance of the Israeli Authority. He said that more than 39 lawsuits have been filed by Hebron Municipality against the Israeli Authority as a result of their violent measures that have been performed against the citizens of the Old City and of the areas adjacent of AL-Ibrahimi Mosque.
     
    The head of the delegation expressed happiness for visiting Palestine and Hebron in particular, and said "Although the deep suffering of the People, it must to keep moral high and to exert efforts to end the occupation".
     
    Alshuha also stressed that the Palestinian cause has been considered as a top priority and a core issue for the Hashemite Leadership, and said that the Civil Status and Passports Department issued passports to the Palestinians at a fast speed and did its best to serve their needs.
    After exchanging symbolic gifts, the delegation toured the Old city and visited Al-Ibrahimi Mosque.
