The Mayor of Hebron, Dr. Daoud Zatari, received a delegation from the EU headed by Mr. Sergio Piccolo who came to Hebron to get a view of the City's conditions on the ground and to discuss the opportunity of implementing vital projects in the Area C. The meeting was also attended by members from Hebron's Municipal council, as well as, by Mr. Majdi Muhtasib, from the Palestinian Agriculture Relief Committee.

 

After welcoming the delegation, the Mayor put lights on the City's political conditions, and referred to the city's division into two parts, H1 and H2 and to citizens suffering particularly who dwell in the southern area of the city which's under the Israeli security control.

 

Dr. Zatari also spoke about the Israeli Occupation's illegal practices against the innocent civilians of Hebron's Old City, and mentioned the closuring down of Al-Shuhada' Street which affected on the economic condition of the area. Moreover, he spoke about Area C, and the Israeli unjustly dominance on its lands which prevents the Palestinians from executing any development project, in the same time, the City of Hebron faces increasing in population and it is in dare need for more pieces of lands, he added.

 

The Mayor and the visiting delegation then made a tour at the Area C, the Old City, and at areas adjacent to Al-Ibrahimi Mosque.
