The Mayor of Hebron, Dr. Daoud Zatari, met a French delegation chaired by Ms. Frugoli Francoise , Deputy General Director at the Municipality of Saint Pierre Des Corps .The delegation was accompanied by Basem Daoud, the Head of France-Palestine Solidarity Association (AFPS) and their visit aimed at getting a first-hand view of Hebron's Reality on the ground, also, at deepening ties between the cities of Hebron and Saint Pierre Des Corps of which signed a twinning agreement.
After welcoming the delegation, the Mayor spoke about the City's historical significance as it considered as the second oldest city in the World. He also referred to the division of the city into H1 and H2, where H2 is under the control of the Israeli Authority, and then described the violent practices and measures that have been perpetrated by the Israeli force against the innocent civilians of the Hebron's Old city, and that was under the pretext of protecting the settlers who illegally settle in and around the heart of the Old city.
Dr. Zatari expressed happiness for the delegation visit to Hebron, and extended invitation to the Mayor of Saint Pierre Des Corps with a view to visit Palestine particularly Hebron City. In the context of joint cooperation, Dr. Zatari mentioned the deep ties between the people of Palestine and France, and the twinning agreements that have been signed with many cities in France.
Thereafter, Dr. Zatari spoke about the different activities and projects provided by Hebron Municipality Social Center, that aim at improving the living conditions of the inhabitants.
On her part, Ms. Frugoli conveyed the regards of the Mayor of Saint Pierre de corps, and thanked the Mayor for the warm reception and hospitality. She expressed happiness for her first visit to Hebron and sympathy with the Old City's inhabitants for their suffering from the Israeli soldiers as well as settlers. Moreover, Ms. Frugoli discussed with the Mayor many opportunities and future projects that would promote cooperation between the two cities.
