Vietnamese Political Delegation Visits Hebron City

A Vietnamese political delegation chaired by Nguyen Tuan Phong, Vice Chairman of the commission for External Relations Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, visited Hebron City and met its mayor, Dr. Daoud Zatari. Their visit aimed at getting a first-hand view of Hebron's living conditions on the ground.

Dr. Zatari spoke about political and security conditions in the city, daily Palestinian suffering due to Israeli occupation and settler practices as well as attempts to displace the local population and to increase settlement activity.

He also touched on violations against Old City inhabitants particularly on their way to pray.

Dr. Zatari also raised the issue of the peace process and how the Palestinian leadership, chaired by President Abbas, is seeking a just and comprehensive peace and is trying to end occupation through negotiations and the peace process. However, the reality on the ground shows that Israel is not serious and lacks the real desire to achieve peace when they're still practicing the force and violation which go against all international treaties and laws that call for the freedom of movement and worship.

Dr. Zatari stressed the importance of cooperation with Vietnam's government and people, and stressed his interest in promoting partnerships between Hebron Municipality and Vitnamese municipalities given the close ties between both countries.

Mr. Fonj said he sympathized with Palestinians, their just cause, and their suffering from the Israeli measures, touching on the suffering endured by the Vietnamese people during the war with the United States. He then expressed his readiness to further cooperation and enhances ties with Hebron City in the Economic sector.
