Hebron Municipality and Ministry of Education discussed the opportunity of joint projects aimed at ending second-shift schools well as extending schools, building new schools and enhancing the Industrial School Facilities in the context of improving vocational and technical education.
The meeting was attended by a delegation of Hebron Municipality chaired by Hebron Mayor Dr. Daoud Zatari who was accompanied by Municipal Council members and Maher Owaiwi the Municipality’s General Manager well as a delegation of Ministry of Education chaired by Ali Zidan and comprised a staff of the ministry.
After welcoming the delegation, Dr. Zatari underlined that ending second-shift schools is within Hebron Municipality’s Strategic Plan for the course of coming years, “many lands were obtained to implement new schools well as enhancing current schools’ class rooms” he added. Then, he stressed on importance of vocational and technical education that aimed at curbing unemployment. Dr. Zatari also touched on Hebron Industrial School’s needs to ensure improving its facilities. Moreover, he showed the Minister the proposed lands where to construct new schools, and called for urgent implementation of schools in Haret Al-shaikh well as Qizoun, in addition to expropriate the rented schools in order to make such enhancement.
Minister Zidan praised the role played by Hebron Municipality in supporting education sector, and lauded Hebron Mayor’s intention in rehabilitation current schools and in provision lands to build more schools. He also mentioned the ministry trends to support vocational and technical education, “vocational education supports Palestinian Market well as ensures the City’s development, and we obtained finance from donor parties to develop Industrial School Facilities” he said.
Both Delegations then toured the city of Hebron where they visited many schools such Ibn Rushd and Industrial School, in addition to a visit to Directorate of Education’s office executed on a land provided by Hebron Municipality.
