    Delegation of British Labor Party Visits Hebron and Meets Its Mayor


    A delegation of the British Labor Party chaired by Councilor Ann Schofeild visits Hebron Municipality and met the mayor Dr. Daoud Zatari with a view to discuss the city's conditions as well as the Israeli Occupation's violations. The meeting was held in Child Happiness Center, a municipal facility, in the attendance of Councilor Dr. Raghad Dweik.

    Dr. Zatari spoke about political and security conditions in the city, daily Palestinian suffering due to Israeli occupation and settler practices. He also touched on violations against Old City inhabitants and on the closing down of Al Shuhada Street as well as to the unjust division of the city into H1 and H2.
     
    He added" Hebron Municipality faced many obstructions by the Israeli Occupation throughout covering the needs of the Old City's inhabitants, as it is situated in H2 area and is under the security control of the Israeli Authority.
     
    Dr. Zatari also raised the issue of Hebron's economic condition, and how it has been negatively affected by the recent war on Gaza Strip.
     
    Councilor Schofeild thanked the mayor for the warm reception and hospitality, and said that the delegation came to Palestine to be closer enough to the Palestinians' suffering. The delegation then toured the old city and visited Al-Shuhada' Street and areas adjacent to Al-Ibrahimi Mosuqe.
     
    It's worth mentioning that the delegation also made a tour at the center of Child Happiness, and get a view of the cultural and social activities which have a main role in enhancing the capabilities of the students and of the city's citizens.
