    Hebron Municipality and PWA Discuss Issues of WWTP and Water Quantity


    Hebron Municipality and Palestinian Water Authority made discussions on enhance issues related to Hebron’s share of Water Quantity on the coming summer and resolve water crisis which was the main suffering for the locals since the passed few years. The management of Wastewater Station was also among issues discussed in the meeting with a delegation of Palestinian Water Authority (PWA) in which chaired by the Vice-President of PWA Rebhi Al-shikh. The meeting was also attended by members from Hebron’s Municipal Council, The General Manager in addition to Municipal Staff of Engineers.

    Hebron Mayor Dr. Daoud Zatari spoke about citizens’ suffering as a result of ed quantities of water allocated to the city by the PWA causing severe water shortages in summer time, and the impact of water crisis on Agriculture and Local Industries. He then praised municipal efforts in enhancing the foreign investments that aims at improve the efficiency of water services and others vital projects in the city. “Hebron Municipality and PWA has a joint objective aims at public interest, and we are seeking to solve scarce water quantities through a sound management, and the continuity of water scarcity will affect on local industries and foreign investment as well” Mayor added.
     
    Dr. Zatari underlined that Wastewater treatment station is a municipal property, and the opportunity of posting PWA to follow-up the station work process is for achieving high-quality services as well as a healthy environment for the locals.
     
    Moreover, Mr. Al-shikh clarified that Hebron City faces a main difficulty due to ed quantities of water. “I stressed on the need of joint cooperation in order to secure new water resources and additional water quantities, in addition to improve the city’s water network in line with the comprehensive water plan” he said. Mr. Alshikh also touched on the Project of Al-sha’ar Water Line which is expected to be terminated in 2015.
     
    Thereafter, PWA Vice-President called for solve the debt of areas affiliated to Hebron Municipality and area of Wastewater Treatment Station which are both been recorded on municipal bills.  
     
    By the end of the meeting, both bodies agreed on a mutual agreement that contains the discussion points to be signed on the coming sessions in order to increase Hebron’s share in the quantity of Water on next summer.
