    Municipalities of Hebron and Changé Discusses the Opportunity of Joint Cooperation


     Hebron Mayor Dr. Daoud Zatari met with Mr. Yves-Marie Belaud Municipal Councilor of Changé Municipality to discuss the opportunity of joint cooperation between both cities and to promote future partnership in various fields such Renewable Energy, Culture Exchange, Education, Information Technology and Infrastructure as well.

    After welcoming the delegation, Dr. Zatari gave a detailed presentation on Hebron, its geography and history, the Old City and the suffering of inhabitants due to occupation measures and practices under the pretext of protecting settlers. He also spoke about the political condition of Hebron City in addition to division the city in to tow parts H1 and H2 which prevents Hebron Municipality from improving its services.
     
    Dr. Zatari then described the economic and commercial importance of Hebron as well as its traditional industries and local products including glass, ceramics, grapes and olives.
     
    Hebron mayor underlined Hebron Municipality’s strategic trend to build cooperation and enhance ties with Arabic and Foreign Cities in oreder to exchange experiences and develop Hebron’s Sectors. He also touched on Twinning Agreements signed with Cities of France such Belfour, Arcoy, and Saint Pierre des corps.
     
    Moreover, Mayor Zatari also pointed out to the role played by France’s Government and People in supporting Palestinians, defending their rights and confronting Israeli settlement policies aimed at preventing the creation of a Palestinian State and the two-state solution.
     
    Councilor Belaud said he sympathized with Palestinians and their just cause. He underlined the right of Palestinians to build their State, end occupation and live in freedom. 
     
    By the end of the meeting, Symbolic gifts were exchanged between the two delegations, and Councilor Belaud called Mayor Zatari to visit Changé City to discuss the opportunity of joint cooperation.
