    Municipalities of Hebron and Agrigento Discusses Cooperation Agreement


     Municipalities of Hebron and Agrigento discussed the opportunity of signing a Joint Cooperation Agreement to enhance different sectors of the city, exchanging experiences well as supporting Hebron City to be nominated on UNESCO's World Heritage List.

    The Meeting was attended by Hebron Mayor Dr. Daoud Zatari, Agrigento Mayor Marco Zambuto and his companions well  as Municipal Council Members.
     
    After welcoming the delegation, Dr. Zatari spoke about political and security conditions in the city, daily Palestinian suffering due to Israeli occupation and settler practices as well as attempts to displace the local population and to increase settlement activity. He also touched on violations against Old City inhabitants which go against all international treaties and laws that call for the freedom of movement and worship.
     
    Hebron Mayor underlined the need to support the Old City’s nomination for inion on UNESCO's World Heritage List, he also thanked Italy’s People for their positive stances and hoped that Italy will exert pressure on the EU and all relevant parties to ensure their support for the Palestinian cause”.
     
    Dr. Zatari touched on joint projects with Italian experts in different fields which intended to improve the condition life for citizens.
     
    By the end of the meeting, Mr. Marco Zambuto called Dr. Zatari for signing the Agreement at Agrigento, he also expressed his hopefulness for a fair and just peace and the creation of a fully sovereign Palestinian State with Jerusalem as its capital, and he praised Hebron Municipality’s efforts in enhancing the city throughout high technical methods for providing services for locals.
