    Dr. Zatari Discusses Cooperation Opportunities with the Spanish General Consul


    During the visit of Juan Stemmann, General Consul of Spain's Consulate in Jerusalem, who was accompanied by Isidro Gonzalez Alfonso, Vice-Consul, to Dr. Daoud Zatari’s office in Hebron Municipality the opportunities of Cooperation with Cities of Spain and the opening of Cordoba’s Photo Exhibition which showed City's Photos were the main topics discussed. The meeting was attended by Mohammad Qawasmi, Hebron's Municipal Council Member as well as the Mayor's Assistant.
     
    After welcoming the delegation, Dr. Zatari gave a detailed presentation about Hebron, its geography, history, and the division of the City into H1 and H2. The Mayor also touched on the violations against Old City inhabitants and on the closing of Al Shuhada Street under the pretext of protecting the settlers. 
     
    Dr. Zatari then mentioned the municipal services provided to the citizens, and stressed on the close ties between both countries' Government and People. He expressed his interest in promoting partnerships and in signing twinning agreements with many Spanish Cities, and lauded the role played by Spain's Government in supporting Hebron's Old City.
     
    The opening of the Photo Exhibition in the Children Happiness Center, a municipal facility that aims to display photos of Cordoba, its history and its best sights was discussed.
     
    On his part, Mr. Stemmann expressed his sympathy with the suffering of inhabitants of the Old City, and called International Organizations to get a first-hand view of Hebron's deep suffering on the ground. Moreover, he expressed his willingness to build cooperation between Spain's Cities and Hebron in the terms of commercial and economic development. He also spoke about the historical significance of Cordoba, and the importance of establishing such an Exhibition that contains historical photos of Cordoba City.
     
    By the end of the meeting, the Consul Stemmann thanked the mayor for the warm reception and hospitality.
