Joint Cooperation between Germany well as Palestine's Municipalities in the context of implementing vital projects, thus exchanging experiences were recently promoted to enhance citizens' living condition.

 

In the meeting with German Delegation chaired by Dr. Albrecht Schro?ter, Mayor of Jena, who was accompanied by Mr. Ulrich Nitschke, Director of Local Governance Programs in Palestine (GIZ) Dr. Zatari stressed the close ties and deep collaboration between Palestine and German.

 

After welcoming the delegation, Hebron Mayor Dr. Zatari spoke about the city's critical condition and the extreme acts of violence that have been perpetrated against innocent Old City's inhabitants, recalling the massacre committed in Al Ibrahimi Mosque in 1994, mentioning to Israeli obstructions that hamper the municipal efforts providing  quality services to the locals.  He then lauded the stances of Palestine's Government aimed at achieving fair and just peace by the two-state solution which come to fail as long as allowing settlers to settle in Palestine's Land.

 

Moreover, Dr. Zatrai thanked Germany's Government and People for their continuous supporting to Palestinian, touching on the financed projects by Local Governance Programs in Palestine (GIZ) that positively affected Palestinians' daily life, pointing at his last visit to Germany that deepen the ties between Hebron and German's various municipalities. Dr. Zatrai also called the delegation to deliver Palestinian Peoples' Suffering to their Government to exert pressure on the EU and all relevant parties to ensure their support for Palestinians by confronting Israeli settlement policies aimed at preventing the creation of a Palestinian State.

 

Dr. Schro?ter expressed his happiness for his visit to Hebron and Hebron Municipality in particular, and praised the municipal strategic plan that aimed at developing the City's different sectors despite arbitrary obstructions and measures by Israelis. "We feel sadness of Palestinians' misery conditions due to the occupation, and we are keen on alleviating the citizens ' plight and achieving freedom in Palestine as Palestinians have a right to self-determination".he said, adding their municipality's interest in building cooperation and enhance ties with Palestine's Municipalities.

 

By the end of the meeting, Dr. Schro?ter invited the mayor to take apart in the world conference held in Germany over the coming months to foster collaboration with many municipalities of Germany.

 

Both delegations then toured the city where they get a first-hand view of Old City's dwellers on the ground.
