    Hebron Municipality and HRC to Discuss Opportunities of Confronting Settlement Expansion in Hebron's Old City


     The Mayor of Hebron, Dr. Daoud Zatari, met the Head of Hebron Rehabilitation Committee (HRC), Dr. Ali Qawasmi, who was accompanied by Imad Hamdan, the Committee Director, as well as other staff from the committee, with a view to discuss the opportunities of confronting the settlement expansion in the Old City of Hebron well as in the Al-Shuhada' Street.

    After welcoming the guests, Dr. Qawasmi started his general discussion on the extreme acts of violence that have been perpetrated against the innocent civilians of the Old city. He also spoke in explanation about the Israeli Authority's illegal schemes that would be carried out in the Old city particularly in the area of Al-shuhada St. in addition to the area adjacent to Osama's School (which has been converted to a Jewish Church)  in which the Israeli Authority is about to construct a housing consisting of 28 flats.
     
    On his part, Dr. Zatari has shown the great commitment of Hebron Municipality to follow up the Old City's related- issues. He stressed that the municipality is keen to save the City of Hebron with a special attention to the city center, "We will confront this illegal attack and we will never accept the settlement expansion" said the mayor.
     
    Dr. Zatari also touched on the latest assault that has been committed against a Hebron Municipality employee, Haitham Natsheh, who works as a guard at Qurtuba Primary School; the settlers attacked him, beat him up and broke his nose.
    By the end of the meeting, Dr. Zatari expressed his gratitude of HRC's cooperation with the Municipality to facing this illegal attack that's go against all international treaties and laws.
