The Mayor of Hebron Dr. Doaud Zatari met today with the Italian delegation which was chaired by Davide La Cecilia the General Consul of Italy and comprised of Elena Clemente the Vice Consul of Italy and Antonio La Rocca the Director of PMSP. The meeting that was attended by Municipal Council Members, The General Manager and Mayor's Assistants discussed the opportunity of implementing IT Park and other joint cooperation in the city of Hebron.

 

After welcoming the delegation, Dr. Zatari praised Italian Government supportive stances for Palestinian Cause, affirming the need to support Palestinian leadership in achieving peace well as exert pressure on Israeli Government to accept all international treaties and laws. He then spoke in details about Hebron City's History, underlining the daily obstacles that Old City's inhabitants face due to Israeli occupation. Dr Zatari also described the politic condition of the city including the continuous closures for the streets and  division the city into two parts which affects on citizens' movement  as well as impeding the dwellers from performing there religious rites. " Israeli Occupation exacerbates economic conditions and prevents Hebron Municipality from implementing development projects and promoting investment." He added.

 

Thereafter, Dr. Zatari stressed on the need to build cooperation and enhance ties with Italian Municipalities in the field of Advanced  Information Technology such implementing the IT park to ensure local economic development and providing careers for recent graduate.

 

Mr. La Cecilia emphasized on the role played by Italian Government and people to support Palestinian cause and leadership just as they have and still supported Municipalities program throughout financial funding, adding that the Italian Government has the interest to have joint partnership and cooperation with Hebron Municipality by taking in to account ensuring a decent living condition for Palestinians.
