On the 31st of July 2013 the Mayor of Hebron Dr. Daoud Zatari met with Austrian delegate in Hebron Municipality; in which he gave them a brief deion about the geographical and the historical importance of the city. He also illustrated the real situation and the difficulties that citizens face due to the Israeli occupation.
Dr. Zatari welcomed the delegation and explained about the history and geography of the city of Hebron that is divided into two parts h1 and h2. In addition, he illustrated the reality of the old town and the suffering that Palestinian citizens face due to the violation of citizens’ rights and the security measures imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities noting the difficulty that municipal work crews in the southern region face because of the occupation authorities control over the region.
The Mayor invited volunteers from schools and universities in Austria to visit Palestine and especially the City of Hebron to see the real situation and the continues violations by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people that is not transmitted internationally due to the biased media. He has also asked the delegation to convey to their country and their friends what they have seen from the fact within the alleys of the old town and are suffering from the pain and injustice by the occupation authorities
Lastly, before taking them for a tour to the old town and around the city Dr. Zatari presented souvenirs to the delegation. On the other hand, the delegates showed their appreciation and thankfulness for the warm reception of the Mayor expressing their pleasure to visit the City of Hebron.
