    Hebron Mayor and Japan’s Representative Discuss Opportunity of Upgrading Roads and Transports in Hebron


     Hebron Mayor Dr. Daoud Zatari discussed with a Japanese Delegation chaired by Junya Matsuura Ambassador for the Palestinians affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestinian Authority the joint cooperation opportunities in Hebron’s vital projects sectors. The meeting was also attended by members from Hebron’s Municipal Council well as Maher Owaiwi the general manager.

    After welcoming the delegation, Dr. Zatari spoke about Hebron’ heritage and Religious significance, political and security conditions in the city as well as daily Palestinian suffering due to Israeli occupation and settler practices, and touched on Abu Haikal Land in Tall Rumaida in which Israeli Soldiers swept the trees away under the pretext of searching on monuments that's considered as a permanent pretext towards increasing settlement activity and building outposts.
     
    Dr. Zatari then described Old City bad condition due to the Occupation’s violation, and mentioned that “Israeli Occupation prevents Hebron Municipality from improving its services”.
     
    Thereafter, Mayor Zatari stressed on importance of upgrading Roads and Transport Networks in Hebron in a view to enhance the traffic through exchanging experiences with Greater Amman Municipality, pointed to insufficient finance needed to support these sectors.
     
    Dr. Mayor called Japan’s Government for more financial support to projects of upgrading roads and transports, to enhance the local economy and sustainable development well as to improve inhabitants’ live condition.
     
    Moreover, Matsuura underlined the right of Palestinians to build their State, end occupation and live in freedom, expressed his readiness to further cooperation and enhance ties with Hebron Municipality in vital projects sector, and then emphasized on the role played by Japan's Government and people in supporting and enhancing Palestinians live condition.
