A Swiss Delegation chaired by Sandrine Salerno, Geneva Mayor, visited Hebron Municipality to show solidarity with the City well as to discuss joint cooperation opportunity between the two cities. The meeting was attended by Jawdi Abu Sneineh, Hebron Deputy Mayor, Dr. Raghad Dweik and Dr. Salah Hussaini; Municipal Council Members, Maher Owaiwi; Hebron Municipality's General Manager in addition to Allam Ashhab, General Manager of International Cooperation and Christine Faustin TIPH's Head of Mission.
By the beginning of the meeting, Abu Sneineh thanked the visited delegation for their positive stances to support Palestine's Cause and People and for their visit to Hebron to get a first-hand view of the citizens' suffering on the ground. He also spoke about the City's bad condition due to Israeli Occupation of Hebron's Old City, Ongoing constructions of Israeli Settlements, ill-treatment of civilians particularly children through excessive use of force by Israelis, and touched on the denied international laws that call for freedom and peace by Israeli Government. "We ask all International parties that call for peace to visit Hebron to see the Israeli extreme acts of violence that have been perpetrated against innocent dwellers of the Old City, and we appreciate the visit of Geneva Mayor to Hebron as Geneva is City of World Peace" the Deputy mayor added.
Moreover, Abu Sneineh discussed the municipal implemented projects well as Municipal Strategic Plan aims at enhancing the city's different sectors to ensure providing high quality services to Hebron's inhabitants.
Along the meeting, Salerno expressed solidarity with Palestinians, pointing to their country's rejection to all measures and practices that go against all international treaties and laws". Then, Faustin spoke briefly about TIPH's missions in Hebron and the joint collaborations with Hebron Municipality in order to ensure a decent living condition for the citizens.
After exchanging symbolic gifts, both delegations toured the Old City where they visited Al-Ibrahimi Mosque.
