Hebron Municipality and UN-habitant made discussions on constructing housing charity similar to King Abdullah Bin Abdul-Aziz's city for charitable housing which was executed for a grant obtained from Saudi Arabia through UN-habitant Program. The opportunity of opening the Vocational Center of King Abdullah Bin Abdul-Aziz's housing, which may be attached to the municipal facilities over the coming April, was also among issues discussed in the meeting with Fiona McCluney, Head of UN-habitant in Palestine.
Hebron Mayor Dr. Daoud Zatari spoke about the city needs for further implementations concern for poor and needy families in Hebron, expressing Hebron Municipality's commitement to continue supporting well as providing facilities to construct such a project of King Abdullah b\Bin Abdul-Aziz.
He also touched on the Municipal Strategic Plan that aimed at promoting sustainable develeopment and improving the quality of life, pointing to Israeli Occupation's obstructions that prevent the municipal efforts from serving the Old City's dwellers. "We are keen to face the Occupation's obstructions and practices for the sake of improving the city's different fields and particularly providing quality services for the Old City's citizens". He added.
During the meeting, McCluney gave a briefed explanation on UN-habitant Program focuses on capaciting Palestinian institutions on spatial planning and housing through policy startegies and investement projects, and expressed her satisfaction on the curent partnership between th UN-habitant and Hebron Municipality and the importance of ending the Vocational Center final touches . "We will exert more efforts to obtain finance for more Charitable projects to ensure serving needy citizens" she said.
By the end of the meeting, McCluney called the mayor to participate in UN-habitant World Conferences in order to exchange experiences. Then, Symbolic gifts were exchanged between the both delegations.
