    Hebron Municipality Discusses Cultural Projects with Spanish Consulate and Calls on ICRC to Ensure Southern Area Protection


     
    In a meeting with Isidro Gonzalez Alfonso, the Spanish General Consul, Dr. Zatari called for fostering Joint Cooperation with Spain's Institutions and parties, and discussed the opportunity of implementing mutual cultural projects in the City of Hebron. The meeting was attended by Hebron Deputy Mayor, the Municipality's General Manager in addition to Mayor's Assistant.
     
    At the beginning of the meeting, Hebron Mayor Dr. Daoud Zatari spoke about the Old City's bad conditions and suffering of the inhabitants which go against all international treaties and laws that call for freedom of movement and worship, and then called onworld societies to exert more efforts to ensure ending the Israeli Occupation. Dr. Zatari touched on Hebron Economic Condition in the context of economic development, enhancing citizens living conditions and improves municipal services provided to the locals.
     
    Hebron Mayor as well pointed to implemented and ongoing projects in terms of focusing on youth and cultural projects aimed at youth capabilities enhancement and curbing unemployment.
     
    By the end of the meeting, Mr. Afonso impressed the municipal projects implemented in the city, calling for more joint cultural projects such the Cordoba pictures at an exhibition held in Child Happiness Complex in Hebron, He furthermore stressed on joint cooperation between both countries in order to enhance ties well as  to exchange  culture between the two communities.
     
    Thereafter, Dr. Zatari met with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation chaired by Daniela, ICRC's Office Director in Southern West Bank, and comprised with a staff of ICRC to discuss the opportunity of alleviating the Old City's dwellers' plight. Dr. Zatari spoke about extreme acts of violence that have been perpetrated against innocent Old City's students, permanent closure for Old City's stores and streets, and obstacles faced by the citizens while worshiping at Al-Ibrahimi Mosque, he also called the ICRC to exert more efforts to end these arbitrary measures and practices against the inhabitants. Then, Daniela Said "we reiterated our strong condemnation of any such acts of terrorism, and we made it clear that we will corporate with the Israeli Side to end up the unfair practices as we have recently obtained the approval to remove two barriers at Jaber Quarter in the Sothern area". 
     
    By the end of a meeting with ICRC's delegation, both parties agreed to promote joint cooperation in order to enhance locals' living condition.
