    Mayor of Derby Shows Solidarity with City of Hebron


     The Mayor of Derby, Sheraz Khan, who was accompanied by Mahroof Hussain, Civil Services Manager,  expressed his solidarity with the citizens of Hebron, and said that the Palestinians have the complete right to live in freedom and peace.

    That was along the meeting with the Mayor of Hebron, Dr. Daoud Zatari. The meeting aimed at discussing cooperation opportunities between the municipalities of Derby and Hebron, which recently signed at twining agreements. In the attendance of members from the municipal council of Hebron, Dr. Zatari thanked the visiting delegation for their positive stances to support the steadfastness of the Palestinians particularly of Hebron's inhabitants, and for their willingness to implement vital projects in the city.
     
    He spoke about political and security conditions in the city, daily Palestinian suffering due to Israeli occupation and settler practices as well as attempts to displace the local population and to increase settlement activity.
     
    The Mayor of Hebron also praised the exerted efforts by the Palestinian Leadership to promote the steadfastness of the Hebron's Old City, and pointed to the role played by Hebron Municipality to put the Old City on its top priority by covering the services and needs of the citizens there and by protecting them from the violent practices that are committed by the Israeli Occupation. 
     
    Dr. Zatari further added" we call the freedom-loving people and anybody with a conscious to visit Hebron in order to get a view of the painful reality and of violations that have been perpetrated against the innocent citizens on the ground".
     
    Moreover, he called the visiting delegation to support the Palestinians cause and people, and to convey the reality of what is going on the ground to their government. He also underlined the necessity of implementing joint development project in the Old City to enhance the citizens' living conditions.
     
    Councillor Khan said that he will exert much effort to support the Palestinians demands, and to promote ties between the two municipalities, he also expressed his willingness to delivering the truth of what happens in the Palestinians lands to the concerned bodies that could achieve just and comprehensive peace.
     
    Symbolic gifts exchanged between the both delegations. Then, they made a tour in Hebron Municipality departments as well as in the areas adjacent the Ibrahimi Mosque and Old City.
