The Mayor of Hebron, Dr. Daoud Zatari, met with a Turkish delegation from the city of Kagithane, which was chaired by the city Mayor, Mr. Fazli Kilic. Their visit aimed at getting a first-hand view of the city different conditions.
After welcoming the delegation, Dr. Zatari put lights on the city historical significance as well as on the city political situation. He also referred to the Israeli Occupation Obstructions that prevent the municipality of Hebron from implementing development projects in the city of Hebron, Particularly, in H2 area, which is under the Israeli Security Control.
Dr. Zatari underlined that the Israeli policy which was conducted against dividing the Ibrahimi Mosque after the massacre which was committed against the prayers inside the mosque , is about to be repeated against Al Aqsa Mosque.
He also briefed the visiting delegation about the mutual cooperation between the Municipality of Hebron and Municipalities of Turkey, and called for deepening ties with other Turkish municipalities in different fields.
Dr. Zatari then raised the issue of the peace process and how the Palestinian leadership, chaired by President Abbas, is seeking a just and comprehensive peace and is trying to end occupation through negotiations and the peace process. However, the reality on the ground shows that Israel is not serious and lacks the real desire to achieve peace.
The Mayor of Kagithane thanked the Mayor of Hebron for the warm reception and hospitality, and said that the media doesn’t really reflect the truth of what is going on the Palestinian lands , adding " regardless which parties the Turkish people belong to, but we will never stop support the Palestinians, and will always be sympathized with their cause.
After exchange symbolic gifts, the Turkish delegation toured the old city and visited Al-Ibrahimi Mosque.
