Hebron Municipality Signs Three Twinning Agreements

On the sidelines of the international conference of Local Authorities in solidarity with the Palestinian People which held in Ramallah, Hebron Municipality signed two twinning agreements with municipalities of Bagcilar and Kecioren. The signing of agreements was in the attendance of Minister Nayef Abu Khalaf and Governor Kamel Hmeid.

The Mayor of Hebron, Dr. Daoud Zatari, said that the twining agreements aim at enhancing the local economic development, and at sharing experiences in terms of infrastructure, Public Health, Education and Environment Projects.

The Mayor of Bagcilar, Lokman Cagirici, said that the agreement is a way to promote ties between the cities and to exchange experiences in main sectors which will play main role in improving the city's conditions.

Moreover, Hebron Municipality singed another twinning agreement with San Sebastian Municipality, that will concern in human rights, and will follow the violation that's committed against the citizens who particularly lived in Hebron's Old City, as well as to put lights on the closuring down of many streets of the Old City, and on the barriers stalled by the Israeli Authority which impede the movement of the inhabitants.

Issam Arrory, the Director of Jerusalem Legal Aid and Human Rights Center (JLAC), added that Hebron City was chosen to sign the agreement with San Sebastian as the city daily faces violent practices and measures by the settlers who settle in and around the Old City. He also stressed that this step is an imitative towards signing dozens of agreements-alike.
