Dr. Dauod Al Zatari met on 17/July/2013 with David 'water and sanitation manager at the World Bank’, Camilla 'Project Manager in the French Foundation for International Cooperation AFD and Adel Yassin, 'head of the Water and Sanitation Department in the Palestinian Water Authority’. in addition, the representative of the consulting firm for the project and members of the municipal council member and heads of departments in Hebron Municipality attended the meeting to search for more funding to cover the additional phases of the draft wastewater treatment plant.
Dr. Zatari illustrated the importance of the wastewater treatment project and the supply of water to the city of Hebron; focusing on the need to provide adequate funding for the implementation of all phases of the RTS project. He also showed his will to improve the revenue and raise the level of services provided to citizens to achieve sustainability.
In addition, awareness campaigns with particular focus on the southern area of ??the city that suffers from difficulties due to security measures imposed by the Israeli occupation authorities are going to be implemented.
Hebron municipality is determined to change the water meters to be prepaid water meters after the idea proved its success and effectiveness; thus, it will be maintained in the city of Hebron during the year.
On the other hand, David showed the support of the World Bank to Hebron Municipality regarding the prepaid water meters that are worth eight million dollars. However, he illustrated that the project should be studied and the ways of funding discussed to achieve the desired objectives.
During the meeting the steps proposed for the implementation of the sewage treatment plant was discussed including a detailed study of the timeframe, phases of the project, economic feasibility, and usefulness of reimbursement for the project in question after the operation and details of collection system expected to work him after the completion of the final stages.
