Mayor of Hebron Hosts a High-Level French Delegation

The Mayor of Hebron, Dr. Daoud Zatari, received a French solidarity delegation that comprised of Members of Parliament as well as Mayors of French Cities. The meeting which was held at Korea-Palestine Center (KPC) was also attended by Herve Magro, the French Consul General, Dr. Anwar Abu Eisheh, the Former Minister of Culture, in addition to Members from Hebron's Municipal Council to discuss Hebron's political situations.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Zatari expressed his happiness at the delegation visit to Hebron. He spoke about Hebron and about the daily citizens' suffering due to Israeli occupation and settler practices.

He also touched on violations against Old City inhabitants under the pretext of protecting the settlers which go against all international treaties and laws that call for the freedom of movement and worship, and touched on the security barriers that are installed by the Israeli troops in the Old City which aimed at obstructing the inhabitants' movement.

Dr. Zatari then called the visiting delegation to clearly convey the suffering of the Old City's citizens to France's Government and People.

Dr. Abu Eisheh, on his part, said that the visiting delegation came to Palestine and to Hebron in particular to show solidarity with the Palestinians, and to get a first-hand view of the daily sufferance and hardship of the Old City's inhabitants. He also pointed out that the delegation toured the Old City where they visited Al-ibrahimi Mosque, Alleyways of the Old City and Al-Shuhada' Street.
