    Delegation of USAID and U.S Consulate General Visit Hebron Municipality


     The Mayor of Hebron, Dr. Daoud Zatari, met with Mr. Jonathan Kamin, the Acting Director of USAID, and the accompanying delegation of the U.S Consulate General, to discuss several issues regarding the general situation of Hebron City.

    After welcoming the delegation, Dr. Zatari briefed them about the political and security conditions in the city. He touched on the extreme acts of violence that have been perpetrated against innocent civilians and students who particularly live in Hebron’s Old City, and spoke about the obstructions imposed by the Israeli Occupation to impede the implementation of development projects in the City of Hebron, the latest of which was the project of Construction Tall Rumaida Garden.
     
    Thereafter, Dr. Zatari praised the role of USAID in enhancing the infrastructure of Hebron throughout many vital projects. He pointed out to the project of rehabilitation the Southern and the Northern entrances of the city, which is mainly funded by the USAID. Then, he called the delegation attention to the necessity of exert pressure on the Congress to provide further support to Hebron as well as to release funds allocated to implement important projects in Palestine.
     
    Moreover, the Mayor Zatari requested the USAID to support the city through provide cultural youth programs that would enhance the social and personal development.
     
    On the other part, Mr. Kamin, thanked the Mayor for the warm hospitality, and affirmed that there will be specific programs which ed solely to Hebron as it is considered as one of the largest city in Palestine. He also expressed hope to release the outstanding funds that allocated by the U.S Government to Palestinian cities. Then, he mentioned that the new Director of the USAID will held office by the beginning of the next year.
